I’ve recently made some big changes to how this blog is ran. I’ve also made alterations to the Discord server that should please most of you. I have also added a Ko-fi, which if you haven’t seen the latest edition of The Power Up Notes, I strongly suggest you go watch the editorial there.
Let me start with the blog as that influences everything else. The Duke and Peasant tiers were removed – only the Knight tier is left as a Paid Memberships Pro tier here. For free access, you can now setup a standard WordPress Subscriber account.
Discord Changes
The Knight membership is your direct ticket to unlocking full access to the Swagnilla Ice Discord server (aka Swag’s Kingdom), but you will need to sync your account to get your perks active. You can handle this instantly by scrolling to the bottom of your My Account page here on the blog. If you are joining us as a free Subscriber, you will need to complete the verification process via Turtle-bot to unlock the free community areas; otherwise, your access will be limited strictly to the top two channels.
If you are joining the Discord for free to hang out in the public areas, you will just need to pass our new Turtle-bot front door verification. (You can check out the Discord icon in the Follow Me area of the blog for a direct invite link.) I have hidden the majority of the server from unverified accounts to completely lock out spam-bots and keep our clubhouse clean.
Expecting more changes still? Good, because I’m not done revealing everything! I’ve added a marketplace to the Discord server for my community to buy, sell, or trade physical gaming items: hardware, games, etc. Any digital items being offered will be considered spam, and you will be banned from the Discord server, and if you are a Knight member or free subscriber here, you will also be banned from the blog. Please read the stickied post first and the sidebar for that forum before you make your first post.
Other Alterations
Beyond the new marketplace, I have also officially launched our Ko-fi page. The name of the site rhymes with no fee, and it is the absolute best place for one-off tips if you want to support my work without committing to a monthly subscription. Every bit of support through Ko-fi goes directly toward our funding goal for a new production and gaming PC, which will let me render videos faster and keep building these worlds.
Finally, to ensure the entire kingdom stays completely safe and compliant with Discord’s terms of service, you will now see a mandatory checkbox confirming you are 13 or older whenever you register an account on the site. Whether you are joining as a free member or upgrading to a Knight, this simple verification keeps our family-friendly environment secure. The digital moat is built, the automated pipeline is locked down, and the foundation is ready for what comes next.
