Today for all of my wonderful members who help support me as I create family-friendly content for the site here, I want to tell you a bit about what’s going on behind-the-scenes. From the programming languages I’m currently learning and my goals for them, to the art forms I’m trying to get back into and why I miss them—there is a lot to catch up on. Read on to get the full scoop!
Programming Languages and the Projects I Have Planned
Right now, I am in the process of re-learning the Python programming language, as it sets a wonderful foundation for using Godot and its native language, GDScript, which is heavily based on Python. For those unfamiliar, Godot is a completely free, open-source game engine and compiler that exports completed executable files for various platforms.
I have three specific programs planned that I want to create and sell right here on the Shop, so today I’m just going to give you a bare outline of each without names or in-depth details. I know you’ll understand why I’m keeping the full blueprints under wraps for now—if someone who already knows the engine inside and out saw the complete concept, they could potentially beat me to the finish line.
They are:
- A dice-based sports game
- A math education tool
- A mix-up of concepts from The Sims, Minecraft, and various Minecraft mods
To be honest, I only have a definitive name for that last one so far! Each of these programs is designed to challenge me and expand my skills, ensuring that each release on the Shop is even better and more polished than the last.
What Artistic Hobbies I’m Getting Back Into and Why
I’m working on getting back into making pottery and drawing. I used to love doing both when I was younger, and I could easily spend hours lost in either one. For me now, it’s not just a way to relax, but also a way to keep my mind and hands busy without doing something work-related. I’m actively working on breaking a bad habit right now, so having these creative things to focus on around my place is exactly what I need.
I have books in my library that will help me regain the skills that have rusted over the years, and I plan to pick up a sturdy folding table from the local Staples or a home renovation store. That way, I can easily store it out of the way when I need the space. I used to have a wooden table that my dad made for me, but unfortunately, it wasn’t quite strong enough and broke. I definitely need something much sturdier now, especially for rolling out clay when doing pottery. Luckily, I already have folding chairs ready to go, so the seating side of the plan is already taken care of.
Concluding this Behind-the-Scenes post
Once again, I would like to thank you for your incredible support—whether you are a brand-new member or someone in the future who just found this post. Your support is what enables me to keep creating the content I love while earning the income I need to cover my bills and groceries. Knowing that I have a steady foundation from these memberships lets me truly focus on learning new skills and sharpening my existing ones to improve what I can offer you.
When these programs eventually launch (if they aren’t already out by the time you are reading this!), I hope you’ll consider picking them up if they interest you. I plan to mainly target Linux for the initial releases, but if there is enough demand, I am absolutely open to releasing them for whichever version of Windows is most popular on Steam at that time.
I hope you enjoyed this behind-the-scenes look, and I’ll see you around the site!
